Haven (Chapters 1 - 2)

She’s close. Close to safety, civilisation, a place to call home. Soon, the dangers of outside will remain outside. The affected will no longer be a threat.

But amid the praises of this haven are whispers of discontent and control, and she realises that someone she is beginning to care for will not be accepted. He will not be allowed.

There is more to life than survival; she’s always known that. But can it be found outside? Or is safety worth the sacrifices that come with it?
